Exhibition Dates: April 9 - 30
Kibbee Gallery's upcoming exhibition, “The Green Mantle” takes its name from the title of chapter six “The Earth’s Green Mantle”, in Rachel Carson’s most famous work, Silent Spring. Like the chapter in the book, The Green Mantle is a metaphor for the vegetation covering the earth’s crust, and its life sustaining properties. Without green plants, the biodiversity and health of our eco system will die, has died or is at risk. For centuries, herbalist and botanical illustrators have carefully documented and recorded the diverse green matter on earth. This exhibition pays homage to those traditions and sheds light onto personal histories of nature and our coexistence with plants.
