"The Atlanta Creatives Project welcomed well over 500 guests throughout the evening last Friday night, November 6th to browse NEDA ABGHARI's collection of Atlanta's hottest DJs and producers photographed in their studios with their favorite childhood objects. Those toys did not go unnoticed by the students of Parks Middle School's book club. The children, who arrived prior to the official opening, had an opportunity to roam the walls and have an interactive experience of the exhibit.
They also were able to witness the beginnings of the musical journey some of Atlanta's legendary DJs had planned. DJ Kemit set the tone for a rotation of talent with DJ Cullen, DJ Trauma, Kai Alce, Injex and Kevin-O. A pleasant surprise for the evening was the pseudo-reunion atmosphere and camaraderie. Everyone in attendance was inspired by Neda's intimate portrayal of the diverse, iconic Atlanta musicians brought on nostalgia as DJs continuously commented they were happy to be reminded of the beginning of the city's music scene.
Other highlights were a tasting of Chef Courtney's holiday menu that included a roasted turkey, stuffing crouton, gravy aioli and cranberry relish hors d'oeuvre that tasted like the perfect bite of Thanksgiving dinner and custom cocktails inspired by music courtesy of Crystalhead Vodka. That crowd favorite was Crystal Method: a drink that was reminiscent of the band's edgy yet organically synthesized sound made with Crystalhead Vodka, ginger ale and a float of agave nectar.
Deemed a success by a crowd of artists, attorneys, musicians, entrepreneurs, doctors and more; there are already whispers of another show in the Spring! For those of you who were not able to make the show or just want to take a second look at the portraits will remain up in the large and small galleries through Friday, November 13th from 5pm to 9pm daily, as well as by appointment. There are still a limited number of calendars available with all 30 portraits and portraits of Atlanta musicians: Adron, Black Lips, Butch Walker, Cartel, Deerhunter, Prefuse 73, The Selmanaires, and Snowden on display in the smaller gallery."
