ARTIST IN RESIDENCY

The HeART house residency hits a bump(blaze) in the road.

TCP is buying a house! YES that's right! With financing support from a local patron we placed the property at 1474 Metropolitan Pkwy under contract for purchase as of late September 2012. We secured partnerships with local businesses and organizations to help with material and labor costs. As we waited patiently for the bank to complete repairs in preparation, we had no reason to believe the property would not close over the next week(s).

HOWEVER,

This morning Friday, Feb. 8th, at around 5:30AM the house caught fire. We are not sure what the cause of the fire was but the entire house was taken.

TCP's Artsist in Residency Program Expands!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Atlanta, Georgia- June 28th, 2012)

The Creatives Project (TCP) Announces Expansion of
CCHP Artist-in-Residency Program

press inquiries: info@thecreativesproject.org

The Creatives Project (TCP) is proud to announce its first offering of subsidized housing through its Artist-in-Residency program, The Creative Community Housing Project (CCHP).

The program currently provides six local artists with promotional support, exhibition opportunities, and free studio space at the Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta.

A new partnership with Atlanta real-estate investment firm Pohl Real Estate expands the program to include housing.
This fall, two local artists will be selected to share residency in a home provided by Pohl Real Estate. The residency will allow each artist an extremely affordable live/work environment while engaging their creative skills for the greater good. Each recipient will complete arts-based youth outreach through TCP's Community Arts Program (CAP) whose beneficiaries include VSA Arts of Georgia, Jacob's Ladder, and One Love Generation.

"The act of creating is great for the mind, body, & soul. It's a wonderful thing to have a place that nurtures this through a diverse array of artists, AND gives back to the community. This is one of those rare win/win situations in which artists receive much needed space, Atlanta’s youth are connected with creative professional mentors, and the community at large receives art that is engaging and inspirational.“ - Jerushia Graham current TCP “Artist-in-Studio” resident.

The CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS will begin July 1, 2012
APPLICATIONS ARE DUE August 15th 2012 12:00 AM EST

Pohl Real Estate has been investing in West Atlanta for the past 30 years. In 2009, Pohl Real Estate was one of 12 Atlanta developers awarded funds from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). Having partnered with the City of Atlanta/NSP, Pohl Real Estate has expanded into the Historic West End and the Adair Park neighborhoods.  Pohl's recent NSP homes are all renovated to EarthCraft guidelines (using "Green Grant" funding assistance from Enterprise Community Partners/Home Depot).  All NSP properties are rented within the Federal rental income guidelines provided by HUD and NSP - as a result, tenants realize amazing rental rates on energy efficient EarthCraft certified homes. TCP Resident Hannah Perner-Wilson collaborates with great performers!

We are so proud of TCP Artist-in-Studio resident Hannah Perner-Wilson! TCP's spirit of collaboration continues through Hannah's work. Extremely interactive for viewers and collectors, her creations have lead to collaborative pieces for inclusion in performative works.

For the past six months Hannah has been working on a pair of data gloves for musician Imogen Heap, who will be performing her new song with them. The performance will stream live from the UK TODAY Sunday April 22nd, 2:30pm EST. Watch the live stream here  or if you missed it re-watch it here!

Hannah has also recently collaborated with Tian Justman on a pulsating LED cape and bed of LED flowers for Saiah's amazing performance of Rua|Wulf. The show runs through April 29th at the Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta. Read Burnaway's review here and make sure to check it out!

TCP's own Justin Rabideau's "WASTE NOT" Exhibition opens this friday at Barbara Archer Gallery

Our dear Justin Rabideau, TCP Artist-in-Studio Resident, has been putting his residency to great use in preparation for his most recent exhibit "WASTE NOT". It opens Friday Mar 2nd, from 7 to 10pm at Barbara Archer Gallery and will remain on view until March 24th.

"WASTE NOT" portrays two artists grappling with change, transformation, and re-interpretation. Justin Rabideau extracts meaning and purpose from forgotten materials, while James Bridges preserves moments by abstracting them to the point of essence. The artists savor everything, letting nothing go to waste.

This exhibit has been organized and curated by our friends over at Dashboard Co-op.

We can't wait to see you there!

TCP presents CCHP 2011 Artists in Residency
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Atlanta. Georgia- July 18, 2011)

The Creatives Project (TCP) Announces its
CCHP Artist-in-Residency Program
Accepting applications through August 31, 2011

press inquiries: press@thecreativesproject.org

TCP is now accepting applications for the first of its four CCHP Artist-In-Residencies scheduled to roll out through 2013.

The Creative Community Housing Project (CCHP) is the Artist-In-Residency program of The Creatives Project (TCP). We are dedicated to supporting the day-to-day lives of creative individuals, offering various levels of financial and promotional support while nurturing the arts eco-system through arts education service. Residencies range from studio space to exhibition space and housing. In exchange, each CCHP program participant gives back to their local community through arts-based outreach completed in conjunction with our Community Arts Program (CAP). With CAP, The Creatives Project provides students, teachers, and communities direct hands-on arts experiences through personal interaction with artists. TCP encourages each artist to explore his/her discipline with students, teachers, and community members through a variety of components that may include workshops, classes, lectures and discussions, rehearsals, performances, community events, and mentorship. Currently, service hours are to be completed in collaboration with our nonprofit affiliates: One Love Generation (OLG) and Jacob's Ladder.

The CCHP “Artist-in-Studio” Residency
The CCHP “Artist-in-Studio” Residency will provide six  Atlanta artists with free long-term studio spaces and exhibition opportunities for a minimum of one year. In exchange, each of the selected artists will complete mentorship with a youth artist of OLG for three hours one night per week. The studios and exhibition spaces are located at The Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia; where the mentorship will also take place.
