TCP presents CCHP 2011 Artists in Residency
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Atlanta. Georgia- July 18, 2011)

The Creatives Project (TCP) Announces its
CCHP Artist-in-Residency Program
Accepting applications through August 31, 2011

press inquiries: press@thecreativesproject.org

TCP is now accepting applications for the first of its four CCHP Artist-In-Residencies scheduled to roll out through 2013.

The Creative Community Housing Project (CCHP) is the Artist-In-Residency program of The Creatives Project (TCP). We are dedicated to supporting the day-to-day lives of creative individuals, offering various levels of financial and promotional support while nurturing the arts eco-system through arts education service. Residencies range from studio space to exhibition space and housing. In exchange, each CCHP program participant gives back to their local community through arts-based outreach completed in conjunction with our Community Arts Program (CAP). With CAP, The Creatives Project provides students, teachers, and communities direct hands-on arts experiences through personal interaction with artists. TCP encourages each artist to explore his/her discipline with students, teachers, and community members through a variety of components that may include workshops, classes, lectures and discussions, rehearsals, performances, community events, and mentorship. Currently, service hours are to be completed in collaboration with our nonprofit affiliates: One Love Generation (OLG) and Jacob's Ladder.

The CCHP “Artist-in-Studio” Residency
The CCHP “Artist-in-Studio” Residency will provide six  Atlanta artists with free long-term studio spaces and exhibition opportunities for a minimum of one year. In exchange, each of the selected artists will complete mentorship with a youth artist of OLG for three hours one night per week. The studios and exhibition spaces are located at The Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia; where the mentorship will also take place.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Atlanta, Georgia – 11 February 2011)

Despite a very cold and rainy night in Georgia, The Creatives Project (TCP) hosted its inaugural fundraiser JUNG at HeART” – a play on the phrase “young at heart” – to a crowd of over 300 last Friday evening at King Plow Event Gallery.  The invitation only VIP Reception, sponsored by Ultimat Vodka, gave guests an intimate look at TCP’s newest outreach initiative, The Creative Community Housing Project (CCHP).   A non-profit organization, CCHP will provide housing and financial support to creatives, while pioneering community and social responsibility, and encouraging creativity and growth through the arts and arts education.  “JUNG at HeART” specialty cocktails and bites from Bakeshop were enjoyed to a soundtrack by Mike Zarin and Social Studies.  VIP guests received limited edition prints provided by Colorchrome and were also treated to a brief artist lecture by each of the collaborators, Fahamu PecouBethany Marchman and Neda Abghari.

The main event was also well attended with requests for an extended exhibit prompting Neda Abghari to promise guests with another show “sooner than later”.  Several other shows are also in the works to continue CCHP’s fundraising efforts.  “Friday night was a huge step in the right direction,” said Executive Director, Neda.  “We want to keep that momentum going and continue to raise awareness that supports the Atlanta arts community.”  The VIP Reception host committee, including Shana Robbins, Felicia Feaster and Commissioner Ashley D. Bell stayed and mingled as the sounds of DJ Vicki Powell gave way to Salah Ananse; the dancing began and several toasts to the future of The Creative Community Housing Project were made.

The Creatives Project
Begun in Atlanta as a photo-documentary project, The Creatives Project (TCP) is an ongoing series of photographic portraits of artistsmusiciansDJ’s and others that seeks to provide insights into the lives and lifestyles of creative individuals. TCP will continue to use its documentary series to bridge gaps of creative community, introduce artists to new audiences; support the community through arts based outreach, and inform the public about the mission and goals of CCHP.

The Creative Community Housing Project
TCP and CCHP are ultimately dedicated to enabling individuals to fulfill their paths as practicing artists while strengthening the community through arts-based outreach. While putting a "roof over artists' heads," in the form of subsidized housing and an artist-in-residency program, the Project will promote creative camaraderie, provide educational & networking opportunities, and establish an artist mentoring program with at-risk yo
